Jason Bentley Performs at 80th Annual Academy Awards Governors Ball
M-Powered artist becomes first DJ to perform at the landmark event
Every year following the Oscars ceremony, the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences hosts the Governors Ball. It’s a landmark celebration attended by scores of celebrities and industry executives—and the 80th annual event was no exception. AMPAS invited legendary KCRW radio host and M-Powered artist Jason Bentley to provide a fitting musical background for the evening, making him the first-ever DJ to perform at the Ball.

Armed with Torq Conectiv, X-Session Pro and a laptop, Bentley mixed classic film scores with downtempo electronica, creating a unique audio montage. The star-studded crowd of 1500 guests—including John Travolta, George Clooney, Marion Cotillard, Cate Blanchett and Daniel Day Lewis—enjoyed Bentley’s retro-themed sets, basking in the opulence of the gala affair.

Bentley continues to use Torq DJ products for both live performances and his weekly radio programs. “Since I broadcast live to hundreds of thousands of people, I need a brand that I can trust, and that’s what M-Audio delivers,” says Bentley. “Torq has completely revolutionized the way I DJ.”
